A trip to Avebury stone circle

Can you believe it's the start of a new month again already! The weather here has not been great, certainly not like summer, so hoping things will start to pick up soon.

If you are a regular visitor to my blog you may recall me mentioning a trip somewhere new. Well, a couple of weeks ago, I had the opportunity to visit Avebury in Wiltshire. Avebury henge and stone circles date back to prehistoric times. Within the henge is the largest stone circle in Britain and originally consisted of around 100 stones. There are actually three circles set within one another. It is quite an amazing sight and the photos don't really do it justice. If you ever get a chance to visit I can certainly recommend it. And you can easily wander around the stones and explore them at your leisure.

More information can be found here

See how close to the houses in the village the stones are

You.I.Us by Annalisa Crawford

Today I am delighted to be part of Annalisa Crawford's blog tour for her recent book You.I.Us. A collection of vignettes, small scenes which hint at the story beneath.

During the tour, Annalisa asked 15 bloggers to pose one question each that will give us all a glimpse into her life and writing.

Welcome Annalisa and congratulations on your new release. My question is;

Hayle Beach

If you could choose anywhere to write where would it be and why (real or fictional)?
Hi Suzanne, you probably know the answer to this already—anywhere near the sea would be perfect.
On a beach, with the ebb and flow of the water, hypnotizing me and allowing the words to flow, or further back so that I can see the whole coastline spanning out below me. In my thoughtful moments, I’d have something beautiful to look at, and when I’m stuck, I’d be able to walk along the soft white sand. There’s nothing quite like the feeling of warm sand between your toes.

Cheers!
Click for OptionsA glass of wine, a box of chocolates, and a sunset would be the perfect end to the day. Of course, I’d still be writing—once I’m in the zone, I don’t stop!

Sounds wonderful, Annalisa. Thanks for visiting my blog today

You. I. Us.
Publication date: June 10, 2016
Genre: Short Stories (Single Author)

In You. I. Us., Annalisa Crawford captures everyday people during  poignant defining moments in their lives: An artist puts his heart into his latest sketch, an elderly couple endures scrutiny by a fellow diner, an ex-student attempts to make amends with a girl she bullied at school, a teenager holds vigil at his friend’s hospital bedside, long distance lovers promise complete devotion, a broken-hearted widow stares into the sea from the edge of a cliff where her husband died, a grieving son contacts the only person he can rely on in a moment of crisis, a group of middle-aged friends inspire each other to live remarkable lives.

Day after day, we make the same choices. But after reading You. I. Us., you’ll ask yourself, “What if we didn’t?”

Celebrate the small things

Anything made you smile this week? Big or small it's time to celebrate.

It's nature in all it's glory that I am celebrating this week.

I'm enjoying watching the birds nesting outside my bedroom window. So lovely to see them raising their little family and even their early morning twittering is a nice way to be woken up in the morning!

Last weekend, whilst out for a walk, I saw a large group of dolphins playing in the bay. Such an uplifting sight.

The squirrel has been visiting our garden again.

Finally, I'm celebrating having the chance to visit somewhere new this weekend. More on that next time!

Insecure Writers Support Group (June)

The months do sure roll by don't they? June already and the first of the month means the writing blogosphere tackles those writerly insecurities that never seem far away for most of us. Saying that though, I haven't got anything new to add this month. Yes, I've got the usual doubts chasing each other around my head but I am coping with them. Maybe it's because things have been busy in my daily life that I have been able to keep them under control. I've got a novel and a short story out on submission and a germ of a new idea floating around, so of course I think about these a lot, but I have had to spend time recently on tackling the garden and running around after family, add that to work and the usual domestic chores and it is clear to see where my time and energy has been focused.

However, I do want to nurture that new idea and see if I can start putting some flesh on it. I am a happier person when I have a writing project, it's when I truly feel like 'me.' Even hubs told me I need to write. . .  so he can tell the difference when I'm not!

So, time to sharpen that pencil and grab a notebook. . . there are new stories and characters to create.

Do you feel different when you haven't got a writing project on the go or do you enjoy the break from writing?

Thanks for stopping by.
